noa noa autumn 2010

some styling inspiration from New Zealand’s Noa Noa label- we’re loving the subtle touches of print and shine, all wrapped up in the perfect cozy layers.

Backstage at Sonia Rykiel F2010

happy models make us happy!  we found these gorgeous photos of the backstage scene at Sonia Rykiel’s Fall 2010 runway show from Logan’s great blog, Oh Hello.  Isn’t the vintage editing paired with the blush tones of the line just perfect?

The Girls with Glasses Show

just posted this video over on What Yaya Likes, and thought we had to share here too!  these ladies are just too cute, and their dresses are the icing on the cake.  Happy Sunday!

Kenzo Resort 2011

we love (love! love!) Kenzo’s Resort 2011 looks, where vintage-inspired wallpaper florals are modernized in bright colors and wrapped up in delightful obi belts.  and take note for next season ladies- high-waisted skirts are lengthening to just below the knee, and require a tall, strong sandal to get the proportion just right.

Lauren Moffatt Fall 2010

it’s common knowledge that we have quite the fashion crush on Lauren Moffatt over here at Dresses for Breakfast (check out her spring line)…so we thought it was high time to showcase her Fall 2010 collection, styled here by Kate Lanphear.  It’s a tall task to make fall day dresses look young and fun, but this line does it effortlessly, with classic-turned-quirky prints, menswear layers, and the most perfect socks-with-heels combination ever.  plus, the architecture nerd in us loves the frank lloyd wright-inspired border prints…so cute.

Anthropologie + Nathalie Lete

We’re so inspired by Nathalie Lete’s dress collaboration with Anthropologie that we may just bring our paintbrushes and watercolors out of hiding.  The Beaux-Art’s educated artist also has designed a collection of housewares for Anthro, made up of gorgeous silkscreens, quirky lithographs, and one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces.

Caycee Black SP2010 Lookbook

we’re loving the “lost in the backyard” vibe of Caycee Black’s spring lookbook- not to mention her great graphic prints and nipped-waist silhouettes.  we’re ready to throw off our heels, ditch the blackberry, and wander through the park all weekend.

(you may notice that we’ve thrown a romper and a skirt into the mix here.  for classifications sake, we’re considering a dress to be either a 1. one piece garment or 2. a skirted garment.  why, you may ask?  just because we love the illusion of a dress as much as a dress itself).

evening by Tibi: Fall 2010

We’re getting pre-excited for sequins, shine, and a little drama this fall!  On the Tibi runway,  all-over sequins looked young and fresh in vintage-inspired blouson silhouettes and sweetheart party dresses, while asymmetrical necklines and sporty details added a contemporary twist.

So, now that we’ve got the perfect outfit (the standout blush pink strapless number, obviously), it’s time to let the party invites start rolling in!

Olivia Rubin SP/SM2010

What do Matisse, Kandinsky, and Rembrandt have in common?  They all serve as inspiration for Olivia Rubin’s colorful prints and playful silhouettes.  The young London designer is herself a modern artisan, with experience working for both Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.
